Squatting a 170 pound man! Check out the video below to learn how to do this lift! My partner workouts are super special because they don’t require a gym or any equipment. All you need is a partner, a positive attitude, and the gusto to try something new.
The Fireman’s Lift allows you to carry your partner by “scooping” them up and over your shoulders. The move is used by fireman and soldiers as an easy and efficient way to lift and transport wounded or unconscious people. The technique is also popular with wrestlers who use the lift as a way to quickly and easily gain control over their opponents. I used the fireman’s lift as a unique way to do a heavy lifting workout. The workout works your upper back, hips, butt, thighs and core. It is a great way to challenge and strengthen your stabilizer muscles and build functional strength.
To master this lift and avoid injury, technique and form are absolutely critical. Check out the video below for a step by step tutorial and to watch me lift a 170 pound man over my shoulders! (Hint: it’s my husband and he claims he’s only 165. He felt heavier :))
